Yes, he might have trouble getting it up the hill to my house though. Hey, my sister owns a trucking firm and they have old used trailers. That would make a good spray booth too. I don't think my neighbors would allow the zoning variance, grin. The guy across the street has his house on the market for $600,000. One of the nicest in town. GRIN.

It was cold here when I selected that. Iced up all my bloomed daffodils. More like Bermuda today, High to be 72.

My buddy Steve has three Wal Basses now, he's dropping by with another all maple neck 4 string. Seems he likes the stripes of his Alembics with Purpleheart. Yeck, I hope he doesn't go with Purpleheart. Looks like a cheap dyed wood to me. Not my bass neck though.

Paddy, you are darn straight it's a help. thank you for the effort. My buddy sure does love these Wal basses. It seems he's more well known for the fretless basses, than fretted. At least in my buddy's mind.

He'll be happy with it, I know. Nothing like having your Cake and eating it too. (A Wal Neck in the closet, so resale value is intact) And a fretted Neck Wal body. Train Engineers have a one track mind!!!! Thanks Paddy, great help to the ArkieLuthier! Is it okay to call myself that?

Bruce, if your friend likes fretless Wals, tell him that one of my customer has Percy Jones' fretless Wal that he used on all the Brand X albums. I have worked on it several times, they are so cool.

Evan I'll email him this page to read. He is quite aware of some of the famous Wal owners. I never heard of them until last week. Including the fact that McCartney owns one. There is a big list with pics of Wal owners on Pete's website.

I just got off the phone with Marc Culbertson at Gilmerwood, he's fixing me up with all these species. That guy knows his woods and it's like he was reading my mind as he talked about my needs. He even knew Wal basses and the necks. I claim ignorance honestly.

Gilmer is great. I made a bubinga dash board for my dad Austin Healey Sprite and gilmer sent me the best bees wing bubinga I have ever seen. I did the dash high gloss poly and rubbed out and buff the thing with my buffing wheel. What fun! Maybe a have a shot of it someplace that I can post.

Hey this topic has been fun. Lets see some pics of the bass if you do get to make one!

Addam, you are right, this has been fun and informative. As you know, I'm making a neck, but after talking to Marc Culbertson, I have a ton of good stuff coming and no doubt will glue up more than one neck.

I've heard of events such as this turning an entire career. Grin. DickeyBass, what a hoot. For now it'll be a WalBass Neck look alike. But you can bet I'll be tracing outlines of the bodies and cavities...... look out Pete Stevens. Grin.....
